I'm looking in to doing some things myself, so it'd be nice to see a few special publications for Number 6's 50th birthday.

Please stay in touch.

All the best,

Rob FaircloughRobert Faircloughhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17558443562652990103noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5505676543095557176.post-44775021729377987522013-08-20T18:18:43.995+11:302013-08-20T18:18:43.995+11:30Many thanks for your very kind review of my book. ...Many thanks for your very kind review of my book. I’m quite overwhelmed by the generosity of your assessment.

I see you ended your review by looking forward to what I might write next. I am keen to produce an expanded version of “Unique But Similar” to coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of “The Prisoner” in 2017. I am currently preparing new chapters on “The Twilight Zone”, “Logan’s Run” and “Codename Icarus”, as well as adding lots of new material to the existing chapters.

You raise, quite rightly, the matter of comparing “The Prisoner” with the “Doctor Who” story “The Macra Terror”. I made a brief mention of the similarity on page 47 but I agree with you – more could have been said. I’ve corrected that in the new version that I’m planning. The original footnote that you see on page 47 has now been lengthened appreciably to cover your own observation on the similarities and the ideas of various “Doctor Who” commentators. I guess my original diffidence was due to the fact that a lot of writers talk about the visual imagery of “The Macra Terror” and as it remains a lost story I’ve never seen it. My experience is based purely on the audio recording and the Target novelisation, so I felt poorly equipped to comment on it. I guess “The Faceless Ones” could fall into the same category but I’ve always loved that serial so much I didn’t want to miss out on the chance to discuss it!

Thanks again for the lovely review.

Best wishes,
Andrew K.
